Best Wedding Venues in Gippsland - A Florist's Guide
Gippsland is home for me. While a lot of florists service this region from Melbourne, I'm based right here in Nar Nar Goon, on its doorstep, and it's become one of my favourite places to create wedding florals precisely because of how varied it is. Wind-swept coastline, rolling dairy country, century-old barns and homesteads, sometimes all within a 30-minute drive of each other.
I've had the chance to work at some wonderful venues across the region, and I wanted to put together an honest, florist-eye-view guide to each. Because when you're choosing a venue, the flowers you're imagining have to work in that space, and after creating florals for 170+ couples, I've learned a lot about which styles, colours, and arrangements truly shine where.
The Gurdies Winery
The Gurdies sits above Western Port Bay in the Bass Coast, with the kind of rustic ambience that comes from being a genuine working winery rather than a purpose-built events venue. The private function room and extensive gardens (complete with barbecue facilities) give it a relaxed, unpretentious feel, and the estate-grown vines make a gorgeous natural backdrop for photos.
For a venue with this much natural texture already built in, I love florals that lean into the landscape rather than compete with it: soft greenery, natural garden-style arrangements, and warm, wine-country tones like dusty rose and terracotta. It's a venue that rewards a relaxed hand.
RACV Inverloch Resort
Inverloch is proper coastal Gippsland, and the RACV resort makes the most of it: three reception spaces with ocean views, an outdoor amphitheatre or grassed ceremony area overlooking Bass Strait, and enough accommodation on site that your whole guest list can stay the weekend.
This is a venue where the coastline is doing a lot of the visual work already, so I favour florals that feel bold enough to hold their own against it. One of my favourite weddings here leaned into a striking red, white, and greenery palette, and it worked beautifully against the ocean backdrop, classic and elevated without disappearing into the view. It's also exactly the kind of exposed, breezy setting where everlasting flowers earn their keep. Nothing wilting or blowing apart in a Bass Strait sea breeze.
Barn Events
Barn Events is tucked into 15 hectares of farmland about 50 minutes from Melbourne, and it's one of my favourite venues to work at in the region. I've had the pleasure of creating florals for a number of beautiful weddings here, the contemporary white-interior barn with its cosy fireplace gives you a genuine blank canvas, while the English-style gardens around the homestead offer something softer and more romantic for a ceremony.
Because the barn itself is such a clean, neutral space, I love using florals to bring in warmth and texture: think dried grasses, soft neutrals, and lush greenery that plays off the timber and the surrounding farmland views.
Daizies Warragul
Daizies has been part of Warragul since 1888, and that history shows. You've got two very different moods to choose from here: the Garden Chapel, shaded by old established trees in a formal garden setting, or the more rustic Stables, with wooden pews and open views across the surrounding farmland.
The Garden Chapel calls for something classic and romantic, soft whites and blush tones that suit the formality of the space, while the Stables suit a more relaxed, country palette with natural textures and native touches. It's a venue where the ceremony and reception can genuinely feel like two different weddings, which is part of the fun of designing for it.
The Shearing Shed, Cowes
On Phillip Island, The Shearing Shed is a genuinely special piece of Gippsland history: a working shearing shed built in the 1950s, passed down through four generations of the one family, and lovingly restored rather than rebuilt. Every piece of timber in there has a story.
A venue with this much heritage character doesn't need much convincing to look beautiful. I lean into warm, rustic textures here: dried banksia, native grasses, and soft neutral tones that sit naturally against all that timber. It's an intimate, story-rich space, and the florals should feel like they belong to the building's history, not layered on top of it.

The weather changes a lot across the region. Coastal venues like Inverloch, The Shearing Shed, and The Gurdies deal with genuine sea breeze and salt air, while inland farm venues like Daizies, Barn Events, and Lightning Hill can bring full sun, heat, and dust. Everlasting flowers handle both without missing a beat.
Let the venue's history guide your palette. Every venue on this list has real character already built in, whether that's a working winery, a converted shearing shed, or a 19th-century homestead. The best florals work with that history rather than covering it up.
